Interrogation of a Boat
photo-montage proposal, 2009, Zagreb, Croatia
On the otherwise barren floodplain of the Sava River, a wooden rowboat rests impaled by a lit streetlamp rising out of the grass field. As the seasonal waters in the river rise and ebb, the boat also moves up and down the shaft of the lamppost, changing position with the level of the water.
At this intersection of the public (lamppost) and private (boat) spheres, Interrogation of a Boat suggests how this particular area in the city of Zagreb, the river, the flood plain and embankment, etc. are viewed by the city planners. This installation has been developed as a proposal for a festival of art in public space.
